At the initiative of Frédéric Autric, floating wind project director at DREAL Occitanie, the Provence Grand Large floating wind project was presented on March 6, 2023 at the Port Center Grand Port Maritime in Marseille – Fos-sur-Mer. The SBM Offshore and IFPEN float is the only one currently on the market that will not have “passed” through the demonstrator stage. The float is built directly for the commercial market.
Indeed, the two actors worked in augmented reality with the Norwegian Boa who won an engineering, project management and operating contract. The three floating foundations of Provence Grand Large are manufactured at the Eiffage Métal site in Fos-sur-Mer, where the structures are assembled by the French company and Smulders, its Belgian subsidiary.
